Mark Wilkinson is an elite British rowing coach and the Director of Rowing at The Windsor Boys' School Boat Club (WBSBC), widely recognized for transforming the program into one of the premier junior sculling hubs in the United Kingdom.
Early Career & Athletic Background
Wilkinson began rowing at age 13 at The Windsor Boys' School. As a junior athlete, he achieved multiple national titles, earned three international U19 Great Britain vests, and won two titles at the Henley Royal Regatta. He began coaching while still in school before earning a 2:1 degree in Design & Engineering from Nottingham Trent University.

Since taking over the rowing program fully as Director of Rowing in 2013, Wilkinson has built WBSBC into an internationally revered sculling program:
Henley Royal Regatta Success: Coached Windsor Boys' School crews to multiple victories in the Fawley Challenge Cup 2017, 2018 (course-record performances), 2022, 2024, and 2025. Runners-up in 2014, 2016, and 2021.
Program Philosophy: Focuses on a three-tier model: Opportunity for All, Opportunity for High Performance, and the necessary resource management to sustain both pathways.
Alongside his school duties, Wilkinson has served as a pivotal figure in British Rowing’s junior development pipelines for over a decade:
Lead Sculling Coach: Appointed Great Britain Lead Coach to the U19 Men's Sculling Squad in 2016.
World & European Success: Coached GB U19 quads to silver medals at the World Rowing U19 Championships in 2017, 2018, and 2023, alongside guiding individual athletes to European Championship titles.
Accolades: Named recipient of British Rowing's Dante Topolski Award for Outstanding Development Coaching in recognition of his contributions to junior international rowing.
