Abby Knight joined Cambridge Boat Club as the Program Director/Head Coach for the Competitive Juniors Program in the Summer of 2020. During her time at CBC, the team has won 20 gold medals at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta in the last 4 years, including a current 4-year streak and 2 course records in the Women’s Under 19 8+ and the Team Efficiency Trophy in 2022.
Coach Knight has guided the team to four events wins at the Head of the Charles, including the Women’s Youth 2x in 2022, the Men’s Under 17 1x in 2025, and back-to-back wins in the Women’s Youth 1x in 2024 and 2025. Since 2021, the Juniors Program has also won 10 USRowing Northeast Regional Championship Titles. At the USRowing Youth National Championships, the team won 5 medals, 1 silver and 4 bronze, and 1 National Title.
Before joining CBC, Abby was the Assistant Coach for Women’s Lightweight Rowing Program at Boston University. During her time at BU, the team won two Conference Championships at the Eastern Sprints and two IRA National Championships in the Women’s Lightweight 2x. She also earned her master’s degree from BU in 2019.
Abby graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and rowed for the Division 1 Women's Lightweight Rowing Team. During her time at Wisconsin, she won IRA and Eastern Sprints titles, including three team championships and placed 1st at the Head of The Charles twice in the Women’s Lightweight 8+. In high school, she won two National Championships, Head of the Charles, and raced the Women’s 2x at the 2009 Junior World Championships in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France.
Abby holds a USRowing Level 3 Coaching Certification and helps with coaching the Boston Rowing Federation, which supports aspiring and current Olympic and Paralympic rowers who are living and training in Boston.
